**Now, before I start this, I want to say a few things. This idea, with the type of characters it has, can all too easily be turned into a corny cheap story. In all honesty thats what it started out as, just something to amuse myself and a few friends. But the more I got into, the more I started turning it more serious and into something really epic (in my opinion anyhow. And epic as in a big long saga adventure deal. With twists and turns and all kinds of emotions. You know, the good stuff. ) I have a large portion of the story and the main story line already plotted out, just not written down yet. So, I ask you to look past the probable first reaction of Oh, this is another stupid one of those... and imagine something of great adventure and you know, other cool stuff.**
In an age when allegiance was everything, everyone was on the side of one of the two Powers, and more specifically one of the four Causes that divided all of humanity.
Everyone had a cause to pay tribute to and fight for. Never in anyone's living memory had their been complete peace between all four Causes. In the past when there were only two Causes, there was not outright war, just deep pride for one's own cause and a general dislike for the other. The animosity between the pirates and the ninja's was old as time. Nearly half a century ago new developments occurred that changed things forever for the worse. For unexplained reasons, each side had begun producing beings that had never existed before. Legend says that each side had been experimenting with human mutation to give them servants to do their dirty work and, if need be, fight for them. Only these new beings got out of their control. They had minds of their own and strengths their creators did not possess. The began reporoducing on their own and soon overthrew their one-time masters and therein came the final two Causes. The Lycans and Vampires.
The Lycan and Vampires, being created bloodthirsty, raged all out war not only with each other, but with all 3 causes. The Pirates and Ninja's knowing they created something they could stop stepping down from direct power and came under the control of their own creations. They had not given up, they were simply biding their time until they could regain power.
The Causes ruled the world, all in some way or form. Everyone lived under the rule of the Causes. Born into one of them, they were sworn allegiance for life. To turn against your Cause was a death sentence. No one rarely turned however. People were passionate and loyal to their Cause, many becoming martyrs. It was the only existence anyone knew. It was a way of life. As much as the citizens feared pain, danger, and death, they also relished in the unity within each Cause, and the passion involved. As far as they were concerned, the age old wars were that of good and bad, and their Cause being good, would prevail in the end, and it was up to them to help in any way possible.
